Unfortunately, in our society today, crime is not uncommon and break-ins are no exception.
In the first months of the year there have been two reported incidents in HIR, both in areas close to public roads and waiting transport.
The incidents involved the theft of valuable household articles and personal effects. In one case, the security alarm at the property had been set by the resident and Security Officers were able to get to the home quickly, disturbing the intruders, who fled but with very little being taken or damage being done. In the other case, the security alarm had not been set and goods of considerable value were stolen.
We urge owners and residents to be sure to arm the security alarm on the property whenever you leave - no matter how short a time you plan to be gone. Any intrusion will show up at the Security Centre through the Resort Intercom System and a Security Officer can be at the property within minutes.
Many insurance policies require that your security alarm is set whenever the property is vacated and failure to comply may affect your cover.
We have an excellent security system at HIR - please help us protect you and your property by setting your security alarm whenever you leave your residence. It makes good sense.
