Resort Circulars

A number of government agencies are involved in the approval process for a buggy crossing to link Hope Island Resort and Sanctuary Cove.  The link would be in the area just beyond the Marina Shopping Village on Santa Barbara Road, near the roundabout marking the entry to Sanctuary Cove, and Caseys Road.

Those involved from government include Gold Coast City Council, Queensland Department of Main Roads, Queensland Transport and Queensland Police.  Representatives from the Primary Thoroughfare Body Corporate organisations at both Hope Island Resort and Sanctuary Cove have been discussing the buggy crossing with these authorities for more than 12 months.

The discussions have focussed primarily on the preferred option of both PTBCs for an "at-level" crossing that would include boom gates and traffic lights.  Following the most recent meeting, the PTBCs have concluded that there is no possibility of the preferred approach being acceptable to the authorities because of future plans for road widening and also because of safety concerns.

Sanctuary Cove PTBC has indicated that it would like to call for expressions of interest to provide a concept design that would include a design, procure, construct and manage contract to cover the entire program of works for an alternative form of crossing.  The SC PTBC is preparing a Memorandum of Understanding, to be signed by themselves and HIR PTBC, setting out the responsibilities and obligations of both parties.  When that document is available, HIR PTBC will be able to make a decision on the next step.

We will continue to keep you informed.
