= $67,000 Saved

Work initiated by the PBC Executive Committee in May 2009 and carried through by CMS has resulted in rebates from Allconnex totalling $67,000.

Concerned by the gap between the amount of water billed to the PBC and the amount invoiced to owners after reading individual metres, at the request of the PBC, CMS undertook a detailed review of metering throughout the Resort.

The program of work involved the installation of additional meters in many areas of HIR, monitoring of all Pumping Stations, sealing of water risers on vacant blocks, leak detection surveys and leakage detection and remediation across the Resort.

Working closely with the newly formed PBC Water Committee and the Architectural Review Authority (ARA), CMS held weekly meetings with the Gold Coast City Council and Allconnex to search for a satisfactory outcome.

Staff from each area of CMS supported these efforts, with significant hours being devoted to the task each week by Operations, ARA Support and Finance.

The rebates were agreed by GCCC and Allconnex because the team was able to demonstrate that there had been some double charging; that some readings had been faulty; and in one case, because a sub-meter had not been read and the PBC had been billed incorrectly for the consumption.

Work will continue to conserve water and we have a program underway to reduce water loss within the Resort and keep any increase in water costs to a level consistent with actual consumption by owners.
