Security Alert!
We have received the following information from the Police - Coomera District Crime Prevention Co-Ordinator, Sergeant Martin Webb
I have recently received an email about suspicious activity in the Riverlinks Estate in Helensvale:A male person knocked on the front door and asked for a person who had never lived at the address. When told that the person does not live at the address he then moved on.
This is a common ploy and I strongly suspect that the person intended to break into the house. The offender knocks on the door and if no one comes to the door they break in. If some one is home they ask for a random person and then move on. They often break into another house close by.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
If a person attends at your front door in similar circumstances, or for other reason causes you to be suspicious of the person, we would like you to take note of the description of the person (the last crime bulletin can assist with recording a description) and last known direction of travel. Please immediately contact and supply police with this information. This information can often result in an arrest for property related offences.
Please call police communications centre for Coomera & Gold Coast District on 5581 2999 who will despatch a police car to attend. (If you do not live within this area contact your local police station) However If you are aware that this person has then moved on and IS breaking into another house or committing another crime, please call 000.
