Recycling Recommended

CMS, acting on behalf of the PBC, has worked with the Queensland Government Department of Environment and Research Management (DERM) to achieve exemption from the Municipal Waste Levy for residents of Hope Island Resort.

One of the conditions of the exemption is that:

all premises must be provided with a recycling collection service of the same frequency as that provided by Gold Coast City Council to residential rated properties by 30 May 2012

To achieve economies of scale, the PBC is seeking quotations for the collection of recycled waste from all Residential Body Corporate (RBCs) areas within HIR.

When these quotations are available, the PBC will recommend strongly that every RBC implement a waste recycling service on a fortnightly basis, prior to 30 May 2012, in order to avoid being charged the Municipal Waste Levy. Currently, the Levy is $35 per tonne.
