Lower Electricity Costs thrifty

Recently, the PBC engaged Energy Options, a company specialising in assessing the costs paid by larger users of electricity and helping reduce the size of their bills.  The results were excellent and will deliver net savings of more than $12,000 in the first year, after paying Energy Options' one-time fee and the other costs involved in the new arrangements.  Savings in subsequent years will be around $20,000 at current prices.

While the majority of RBCs do not use sufficient community power to make this approach practical, there are a number that do.  They have been informed of this opportunity and CMS will facilitate meetings with Energy Options, whenever requested.

Energy Options is available to work with the relevant RBCs to make a similar assessment of the costs they incur for community power and areas where savings can be made, mainly by ensuring that the most appropriate tariff arrangements are in place.  They will work either for a fixed fee or for a one-time percentage of any savings they achieve.

We will continue to keep you informed.
